on my (quite old) computer i have installed the new java, it still does not work, since my computer is old should i buy a graphics card?

my computer is a bit old and i've installed the latest version of java and it still does'nt work, this means i have to go on the family computer, but i want to go on my own computer. since my computer is old should i buy a graphics card?

I dont know much about computers but minecraft is 16x16 graphics i think  so i dont think a graphic card would be needed

How old are we talking? What specific error message are you getting?Did you uninstall ALL the old javas before getting the newest one? Did you re-eneable the java plugin on firefox?

i have a very nice graphics card... uts not for minecraft minecraft shouldnt need a graphics card unless your computer is like 9 years old. and if ut is then good luck finding a graphics card for it. its probably not a graphics problem its probably java

Minecraft is rather heavy for what you would think. Please, post any more information you have about your computer or what the game does when you try to play it.

What version of OpenGL do you have?Note: You need atleast OpenGL 1.2 to run minecraft.
