Have you ever been to a PvP or Faction server and gotten killed by a skilled (or insanely cheap) player?
Well today, we can all forget those miserable nights camping out in the ground hog holes because today is the day I give you the secrets of The PvP Master. With these tips and advice, you can stand a chance against ANY player in your way!
Note: If you already mastered all these skills, just sit back and eat some cake in consideration to the ones that want to learn. Thank you.
1) Good equipment = Better chances of winning battles
It's actually true that the player with the better arms usually wins. I know in your head you're saying "No Duh!" and " Well Obviously!" but these are key basics so listen carefully. You should get enchantments on armor and weapons for increases in strength and durability. Make potions if possible so you can further boost your fighting stats and deal damage to others. Strength, speed, and fire resistance potions are a good set to hold during battle. Slowness, poison, and instant damage potions are also useful for projectile combat. Bring a bow too.
2) Movement and Stealth Skills
In the battlefield, you can't always rely on your armor and weaponry to get you the triumph. You need to move around the other fighter and get more hits on him, thus giving more damage.
Ring-around-the-Rosie: Circle around the player in a rotating motion and make sure your momentum doesn't slow down while you strike. This technique is effective against well armed players and if he doesn't see it coming, you will most likely win. Good mouse movement, open space, and no lag recommended.
Rabbit Dash: Use your speed for this one and have a constantly full hunger bar. The key to this is to run around him and possibly confuse him into hitting all over the place (less chance for you to get hit). Occasionally jump as well like a rabbit to get critical hits. This technique is effective against decently armed players. Smart motion, open space, and no lag recommended.
Riptide Side: Move to the side of the player when interacting with swords and make him shoot forward into an angle where his back is vulnerable. I personally like this one because it's one of the most successful strategies (in my opinion) and it doesn't take a lot of practice to execute well with. Open area and space recommended. Be sure to take advantage of his awkward angles in movement so you get more hits.
3) Don't take risks and act wisely
When dealing with many PvP groups and factions, NEVER travel alone. Make friends and allies to help you win your fights. Remember, you're not alone, you usually have good fighters around you. When fighting a 2 vs 1 battle, don't underestimate your opponents. They could look like total noobs from outer space but don't judge too soon, they could be severely hostile (dangerous). Pack useful items and weapons and leave valuables at home. When you're on the battlefield, anything could happen...

It's weird, the more equipment a 1v1 has, the more likely I am to lose.
Example: Death and I were having a huge dispute, when we fought in armor with swords? I lost. Bows? We were both laggy as hell, but I lost. Fist brawl? I won.
Additional tips for pvp: Always bring a food that can be consumed quickly without bother. Steak or pork is ideal. Don't bother with golden apples, as their short regeneration won't be as useful as a steak and a regen or heal potion.
Never carry diamonds on a server with chest locking. Eva.
If you can, lay clever traps or plan the environment ahead of time. Knocking an enemy off a cliff they never knew was there is a huge advantage, So is your enemy falling into a cactus pit, hidden by snow or by piston.
Axes make very convienient weapons! Several times when I was chopping trees an assassin or pvper (Yes, on a server I was literally bountied. Guess which server.) came up behind me, and got an axe in his face.
Corner them. If they can't retreat, they have to stand and fight. Usually if you are the aggressor however, they will not put retreat as a priority. They will most likely go nuts trying to kill you by whatever means possible.

A little like AntVenom, when coming head-on, like you and your opponent are charging, turn RIGHT before you attack him. Then your opponent thinks he slayed him, which then will take a moment to find "[You] was slayed by [Opponent]", which then gives you time to attack. If he has a good amount of frame rate, then he most likely saw you turn. If that happens, do a ring-around-the-rosie while sprinting. Then you can attack him with a critical hit with a sprint-jump-hit.

PvP only in land you are used to. I only pvp in arenas i built . Mainly tall rooftops and netherrack bridges. My knockback sword and some flint and steel are always a certain victory. What i mean is know your enemy but also know the enviroment. If that fails i pull out a lava buket and burn him to death.Though that destroys the loot.

Doesn't usually work... but wow, I never knew it was a good tactic!
UPDATE: Always remember to bring these Items to combat:
-Diamond Sword (Enchanted)
-Bow (enchanted)
-Arrows
-Potion of strength II
-Potion of swiftness II
-Lava Bucket (Only for free combat, because most PvP Arenas don't allow them.)
-Water Bucket (Only for free combat, because most PvP Arenas don't allow them.)
-Splash potion of harming II
-Flint And Steel (Only for free combat, because most PvP Arenas don't allow them.)
